10.02.10 County Table Cricket Final
The County Table Cricket finals were held at Grace Road on Tuesday 9th February, providing those with Special Education Needs and Physical Disabilities the opportunity to compete in a competitive game of cricket.
Ashfield, Ashmount and Ellesmere entered the competition with the matches being played in the Mike Turner Indoor School. Schools played each other twice in the tournament which was closely competed.
The final game of the day was closely contested by Ellesmere with a wicket and 2 dot balls in the final over. However, Ashfield won the game leaving them tied on points with Ashmount. The competition winner was therefore decided by the highest runs scored in the two games they played against each other. Ashmount were narrowly beaten on 527 by Ashfield’s 530 runs.
The day was enjoyed by all who attended with a competitive but friendly and fun atmosphere with players all supportive of one another and their opposition.
Ashfield now progress to the Regional Finals of the competition which are also being hosted at Grace Road on the 27th April 2010. The National Finals will be held at Lords on the 15th June 2010.
The LRCB would like to thank everybody that was involved in organising and supporting the event and wish Ashfield every success in the Regional Heat of the competition.
