The LRCB are keen to be inclusive and offer disabled cricket opportunities to those around the county.
Although working with SEN schools to develop opportunities for children to participate we are keen to create a link and pathway into the community for these young disabled people to get involved. We are looking for a club (or group of clubs) to take the lead on providing this outlet with the support of the LRCB and other key partners. Please contact the LRCB if this is something that your club would be keen to pursue.
In order to develop better opportunities for those with a disability to participate there is a need for more clubs and coaches with the skills and confidence to work with this target group. There will be a Coach Development Day on Saturday 10th April that will cover classification and coaching best practice. Those that attend this development day will gain experience and have an opportunity to work with Darley Abbey CC which is made up of predominantly Learning Disability players.
Details for the Coach Development Day are not yet available but will be made available as soon as they are. However, if you are interested in attending and providing more opportunities for disabled cricket at your club then please contact Laura Joyce at laurajoyce@leicestershireccc.co.uk.
Please find the attached disabilities awareness pack which has been devised by the ECB to offer coaches some insight into strategies to use when coaching disabled players. This pack can be used for coaching a specific group of disabled participants or for adapting sessions to make them more inclusive.
