Chance to Shine

Chance to shine (C2S)
A £50million campaign to regenerate competitive cricket in state schools helped more than 45,000 children in its first year, including almost 19,000 girls, bringing huge educational and social benefits. Registered charity, Cricket Foundation, launched Chance to shine in May 2005, when fewer than 10% of state schools played regular competitive cricket. The first end-of-year report shows that Chance to Shine has worked through 100 clubs to bring cricket to 450 primary and 150 secondary .

Leicestershire & Rutland C2S Clubs 2006 - 2007
Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Board were requested to nominate two ECB Clubmark accredited club and Barrow Town Cricket Club and Hinckley Amateur Cricket Club accepted the invitation from the Cricket Foundation to help pilot the 2006 programme. As both clubs successfully delivered the programme, with non turf pitches installed in two of the schools, they were both invited to take part again for the 2007 season.

 

Leicestershire and Rutland C2S Clubs 2008
Following a second successful year of delivering curriculum and non curriculum coaching and competitive matches to their participating school Barrow Town Cricket Club decided to withdraw from the 2008 programme, which meant that their place was offered to Market Harborough Cricket Club. In addition, LRCB were requested to nominate a further two Clubmark Accredited clubs and Loughborough Carillon Cricket Club and Oakham Cricket Club have accepted the invitation by the Cricket Foundation to join the programme for the 2008 season.
